Return to EAD#2 Experience
This is the letter of support Dan's employer wrote. While it shows that Dan's supervisor has a less than complete understanding of the process, it covers all the bases and serves its purpose. It was printed on the company's letterhead, which included the writer's contact information. Feel free to adapt as necessary for your own case! ~B&D

Dear Sir/Madam:

This is an urgent request to get your immediate help in obtaining a renewal of the Employment Authorization Document (EAD) for one of our employees at <this company>.

<Applicant's Full Name> does <this job function> at <this company>. He was born in London, England and immigrated to Chicago on a K-1 Visa in July of 2001. He has been employed by <this company> since June of this year. His Alien Registration Number is <applicant's A#>.

He sent in his application for a renewal of the EAD well in advance of the December 9 expiration date and is still awaiting a letter of receipt and/or an invitation to appear at the INS office to advance the process. We can only imagine how busy you all must be, but we are writing now in order to try and allow Daniel to keep working in a job that we need him for - and that he needs to be able to pay his living expenses with his wife. Daniel and his wife, <applicant's spouse's name>, live in <city name>, near our company. She is a U.S. citizen and their joint application for Adjustment of Status is also on file with your office.

Daniel's work for us in the <job area> of our <department> is critical to our continued success as a <department/company focus>. If Daniel were to be unable to work, it would seriously affect our efforts. Additionally, if Daniel is forced to cease working, it may affect his ability to return to his current job when the renewal process for the EAD may finally be completed.

Could you please issue the appropriate renewal of the EAD for <applicant's full name> as soon as possible, as it will be a huge help to both us and to Daniel and his wife. Or, please notify us - by phone or in writing - that it is alright for Daniel to continue working while he awaits the renewed EAD. If an interim EAD of some sort can be issued in the meantime, that would certainly seem to help. Please notify us as soon as possible - and let us know, as well, if there is a different part of your office that we should also be in touch with regarding this situation.

Daniel is an extraordinarily hard worker, a responsible person, and an asset to <this company>. We are trying to help him stay on the job - and we appreciate any help you can give.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at my office at <location>. The phone is <letter writer's phone number>. Thank you for your help.
