Return to London Embassy

Police Certificate

Applying
(Feb 1, 2001) Dan got his application for the Police Certificate form signed by the IT Director of his company (his boss). Then he went along to the Police station with a phone bill, an invoice, and his passport. There was no queue so he was only in there for five minutes. After paying the £10 fee and answering a couple of questions to prove he was who he said he was they, gave him a receipt and told him the certificate would be sent to him in 3 weeks to 28 days.

Receiving
Dan finally received his Police Certificate March 15, 2001. He chased them for the two weeks prior and was told that the standard time it takes is 40 days. His took 43 days total. Dan recommends sending a covering letter with the original application explaining why there is a sense of urgency on this. He didn't, and you can see how long he had to wait!

Anyway, his Police Certificate is all clear, so it's time to get the evidence of support together so he can send in the forms and open the provisional file at the US Embassy in London.
