Here is the timeline and summary of our experiences getting the K-1 Visa and subsequent Adjustment of Status. To see more details, just click on the links in the table.

November 1996 Becky & Dan meet online
December 26, 1997 Becky & Dan meet in person for the first time
August 30, 1998 Becky & Dan get engaged
September 2000 Becky & Dan decide "Enough waiting! Let's get this show on the road! Target date: One year from now"
Jan 22, 2001 Becky mails the I-129F package to the INS Nebraska Service Center
Jan 24, 2001 Dan calls the US Embassy in London (020 7355 3335) to get forms sent out early.
I-129F arrives at NSC at 2:36 am.
Jan 29, 2001 Dan receives forms from US Embassy in London
Jan 30, 2001 Our I-129F is actioned, we just don't know it yet.
Feb 1, 2001 Dan applies for Police Certificate
Feb 5, 2001 Becky receives 1st NOA (Notice of Action)
Mar 15, 2001 Dan receives his Police Certificate
Mar 22, 2001 Our I-129F is approved!
Apr 23, 2001 Dan sends the forms off to the US Embassy
Jun 7, 2001 Dan has his interview at the US Embassy in London
Jul 12, 2001 Dan stops working and has a few days left to pack his things
Jul 21, 2001 Dan arrives in Chicago
Sep 8, 2001 Becky and Dan are married in Atlanta
Oct 13, 2001 Dan & Becky mail out Dan's AOS (I-485) and EAD (I-765). (Chicago only accepts Adavanced Parole (I-131) in person.)
Oct 15, 2001 Dan's applications are received at the Chicago District Office (7:24am)
Oct 19, 2001 Dan's AOS and EAD Applications are actioned
Oct 26, 2001 Dan & Becky receive the infamous receipt
Dec 19, 2001 Dan's first EAD and AP in Chicago
Sep 17, 2002 Address change letter for Dan is sent to the Chicago INS
Sep 26, 2002 Chicago INS sends a letter acknowledging the address change.
Oct 29, 2002 Dan's EAD #2 application is mailed.
Dec 9, 2002 Dan's EAD (#1) expires, and we have still heard nothing regarding EAD #2.
Dec 11, 2002 EAD #2 - Dan spends the day at the Chicago District Office and emerges victorious
Feb 26, 2003 Dan receives a letter (with his name misspelled) to appear at the INS Application Support Center for fingerprinting.
Mar 7, 2003 Dan has his fingerprints taken at a smaller INS (now BCIS) suboffice.
Mar 20, 2003 Dan mails the BCIS a letter requesting they fix the spelling of his name.
Mar 26, 2003 BCIS acknowledges that it received Dan's request to have his name spelled properly.
Jun 12, 2003 Another move, another address change letter to BCIS.
